Ethical Humanism- the ideal of ONE world- is one of the greatest contribution of the Tamils to world culture.

The supreme philosophy of life as conceived by the Tamils is clearly expressed in one of the verses of the `Purananuru` the ancient Tamil classic:

'Every country is my country, every man is my kinsman`

In these lines the ancient Tamils have given vibrant expression to their cherished ideal of the concept one world and the universal brotherhood of man

TAMIL RELIGION and HINDUISM

Westerners are more au fait with Hinduism, the third largest religion in the world, as reflected in the  Ramayana, Gita and Mahabharata. How would a Tamil explain briefly his religion as compared to a Jew, Moslem, Buddhist or Christian?

'Hinduism differs from Christianity and other Western religions - it does  not have a single founder, a specific theological system, a single morality or a central religious organisation. It consists of thousands of different religious groups that have evolved since 1500BCE' www.religious tolerance.org

How different is the Tamil religion from Hinduism? Why is  Hinduism as practiced by the North better known in the West?

Tamil Afrika will be addressing this issue later. Your comments will be useful.
